The selection of an emergency committee of seven, consisting of Lord Meichett, Lord Reading, Felix M. Warburg. Oscar Wasserman. Louis D. Brandeis, James Rothschild and Dr. Chaim Weizmann, by the General Council of the World Zionist Organization to restore public confidence and to prevent in the future the possibility of unauthorized and misleading utterances such as those of Dr. Judah L. Magnes, was advocated by Abraham Goldberg, vice-chairman of the General Council of the World Zionist Organization and a member of the administrative committee of the Zionist Organization of America, in an address to Charleston Jewry at the Community Centre Sunday night.

Speaking on the recent outbreaks in Palestine and of the proposal of Dr. Magnes to restore peace between the Jews and the Arab. Mr. Goldberg said.

“It is not yet too late to restore public confidence and to preclude in the future the possibility of unnauthorized and misleading utterances similar to those of Dr. Magnes through the selection by the General Council of the World Zionist Organization of an emergency committee with Lord Melchett at its head. This committee should include Major James Rathschild. Justice Louis D. Brandeis, Felix M. Warburg. Oscar Wasserman, Lord Reading and Dr. Chaim Weizmann.

“It is clear that there now exists a lack of confidence and everyone feels called upon to come out with advice, while a committee of seven men of the caliber described, will inspire confidence in all Jewish factions and have a salutary effect on all parties concerned and may engender a just hope that it will ultimately find a real solution to this aggravated problem.”
