The 40th anniversary of the death of Theodor Herzl, father of political Zionism, was observed here last night at a meeting arranged by Uruguayan Zionist organizations, with the support of other Jewish groups and the Uruguayan Christian Committee of Friends of Palestine.
Following addresses by representatives of the Jewish Agency, the World Jewish congress and local Jewish leaders, the 2,000 persons attending the meeting adopted a resolution asking the government of Uruguay to support Jewish claims on Palestine and to join in measures to aid the Jews of occupied Europe.
