The plaque on the front of the building which was the head-quarters of the Gestapo during the war, honoring the memory of the victims of Nazism, was disfigured last night, when vandals or anti-Semites smeared the plaque with oil acids, it was discovered today. The acids were applied in such a manner as to destroy that part of the inscription which pays tribute to the memory of the dead.
