The Pope has for the first time permitted a Jewish scholar to study documents in the Vatican archives in order to clear up certain questions about the political and cultural conditions that existed during the last Jewish kingdom, says a report from Bratislaw to the Austrian papers, referring to Rabbi Marcus Vorband, who has just returned from an extended stay in Europe as the guest of the Vatican. In an audience with the Pope, the Slovakian rabbi received permission to use the Vatican documents for scientific research.
