The Latin phase “perfidi iudaei” in a Reran Catholic prayer which in some translations has been rendered as “perfidious Jews” has been changed to a form less objectionable to Jews, it was announced here yesterday by the National conference of Christians and Jews.
The Conference announced that it had received a clarification from the Sacred Congregation of Rites in Rome to the effect that it has authorized translation of the phrase into the vernacular as “wanting in (Christian) belief.”
