Messages congratulating the Isaac M. Wise Temple here on the occasion of its centenary have been received from Vice-President Henry A. Wallace, William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, Thomas Mann and many other notables, it was announced today.
Vice-President Wallace’s message reads in part: “In these days of stress, when the ideals of democracy are being threatened on every side, it is heartening to contemplate a house of worship that, for a hundred years has existed in this country as a source of inspiration and encouragement. It is of particular significance that this temple, which has become the center of an important movement among our fellow citizens of Jewish faith, should have been founded largely by people who had turned their backs upon tyranny and oppression in their homelands.”
