The Jewish Community of this city, in a letter to the Vienna chief of police, today protested increased Nazi activity in the city. The protest revealed the discovery of a swastika flag on the steps of the offices of the Jewish Community which adjoins Vienna’s lone remaining synagogue.
The letter also noted several occasions when anti-Semitic posters and slogans were displayed and the “Horst Wessel” song was sung publicly. The letter concluded that there “obviously exists in Austria a well-organized Nazi movement” and asked the chief of police to suppress it.
