The memory of Berek Joselewicz. Polish Jewish hero of the 1863 rebellion against Russia, was honored by Poles and Jews here.

A huge torchlight parade took place with the participation of the Jewish boy scouts, the Maccabeans and the Polish military youth organization, Strzelcy. Services were held in the synagogue with Rabbi Rubinstein, member of the Senate, officiating.
