Violence erupted when some 1,000 German right-wing extremists clashed with 500 leftwing counter-demonstrators outside a World War II exhibit in the northern German city of Kiel. The exhibit, which has been traveling around Germany for the past four years, focuses on the role that ordinary German soldiers played in the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes.
