Soviet Jewish physicist Alexander Voronel was again picked up by Soviet authorities and ordered to cease planning for the upcoming International Scientific Seminar to be held in his home, according to the National Conference on Soviet Jewry: Voronel was told by a Colonel Ampisov that he could be accused of anti-Soviet propaganda and slandering the Soviet system, the NCSJ said. Voronel refused to cease his activities and was released.
