Senator Wagner today expressed confidence that his refugee children’s bill would be brought to the Senate floor shortly. He said he would not object to extending the bill to admit children from other countries than Germany if necessary to get the bill through. He was confident of a majority of two in the Senate Immigration Committee. Senator Smathers of New Jersey has assumed leadership of the bill’s supporters in the committee.
