Wahabis May Rule Transjordania, Arab Paper States

Transjordania may soon come under the rule of Ibn Saud, victorious leader of the Wahabis, according to the information of the Arab paper, “Maraat el Shark.”

Many Transjordanian tribes, including the tribe of the B’nai Sacher, Emir Abdullah’s chief supporters until now, are favoring Wahabism. Negotiations between the tribe leaders and Ibn Saud with a view of invoking his rule over Transjondania are going on, according to the paper.

COL. LEHMAN GIVES $50,000 FOR UNITED JEWISH CAMPAIGN

A gift of $50,000 was made to the United Jewish Campaign of New York by Colonel Herbert H. Lehman, according to an announcement made by William Fox, chairman of the $6,000,000 drive in New York City. Colonel Lehman’s gift was made known in a letter to Mr. Fox in which he says that the sum is the largest he has contributed for European relief, and declares that he has done so because of the desperate plight of the Jews abroad.

Colonel Lehman is chairman of the Reconstruction work of the Joint Distribution Committee.
