Alarmed by recent Arab incursions and attacks. General Zionist members of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee called today for an immediate special meeting of their committee, to discuss the country’s security situation. The Knesset is now in recess.
In the last ten days, several incidents have aroused concern here. At the ancient Masada Rock fortress, a man and a woman were killed, apparently by Arab infiltrators. In the upper Galilee, a bus was ambushed by Arabs who had apparently come into Israel from Syria by crossing the Lebanese border. Along the Southern borders, there has been an increase of infiltration by armed gangs, and security forces in the South have been strengthened.
