Many Jews in England have so far been unable to secure matzohs for Passover as a result of the war conditions, it was revealed today when the Beth Din, the rabbinical council, appealed to rabbis throughout the country to devise means of securing sufficient matzohs for all English Jews.
Declaring that there was a serious shortage of matzohs, the Beth Din asked those persons who were well supplied to spare whatever quantities they could for distribution among those who have been unable to secure any of the unleavened bread. A special appeal will be made tomorrow from the pulpits of all synagogues, in order to make possible a last-minute distribution of matzohs.
