Preacher, radicals, civic leaders and socialists here are concentrating on a series of rallies and drives against Fascism.
Leo Kryzycki, national chairman of the Socialist party of America, whose home is in this city, revealed that the party will shortly launch a campaign among Socialist branches and trade unions throughout the country to0 raise funds to heop the fight on Fascism in Germany and Austria.
He also revealed that a telegram was sent to President demanding a boycott against trade with Austria while Fascism reigned in that country. The telegram was signed by Norman Thomas, well-known Socialist leader, and by Kryzcki, Both are at present visitors at the Socialist bazaar in Milwaukee Dipolmatic representations by the Roosevelt administration in Vienna against Fascism were also urged in the message to the President. He was asked to “make clear” to the Austrian trade coissoners now in Washington that “America will make no agreement to trade in goods wet with the workers’ blood.”
Meanwhile, members of the Milwaukee Council of Churches and state interdenominational council on social relations at a conference here cheered an appeal by Dr. Harry F.Ward, professor at the Union Theological Seminary in New York, who urged that cleagymen unite against the rising tide of fascism.
