The collapse of a newly built house, one of the city buildings, five days after its completion, was made a Jewish issue in the discussion in the Warsaw City Council last night.

The house was built under a city contract with Adolph Weissblatt, contractor. Weissblatt and two of his engineers, Markus and Lichtenbaum, were arrested on charges of fraud. The collapse resulted in the death of two workers and serious injuries to five.

Mr. Weissblatt is a well known Jewish communal worker here holding the position of curator of the Jewish Hospital, president of the Nurses’ School of the J.D.C. foundation, and honorary offices in other Jewish welfare organizations.

The City Council, following a sharp debate, during which anti-Semitic addresses were made, voted to appoint an investigating committee of seven, including one Jewish member. The charge was made that Weissblatt obtained the contract through pull.
