An alleged Jewish monopoly of the fish trade was the target of an attack today in the newspaper “A.B.C.” which declares that the sale of seafood is entirely in Jewish hands and that “not a single ‘Aryan’ face is visible in the fish markets.”
According to the paper, this city alone consumes between 100,000 and 200,000 kilos of fish weekly, of which Jewish wholesalers sell not less than 70,000.
The newspaper accuses Jews of maintaining unsanitary and unhygienic conditions in the conduct of their business and charges them with having set up a dictatorship to control it.
Following publication of the charges, a sanitary inspector from the Warsaw department of health appeared in the fish market accompanied by a photographer whom he instructed to take pictures of the Jewish fish traders.
