State and Army Department officials in Washington have decided not to exhibit the United States military government’s powerful documentary film “Nuremberg” to audiences in the United States, it was reported here today. The film exposes Nazi brutality.
The reason assertedly given for withholding the picture–a history of the Nazi movement in Germany–from American movie-goers is that it would revive anti-German feeling among Americans. This decision was made by a group of officials of the two departments when the military government forwarded it for approval to the capital. The opinion of the Washington reviewers appeared to be that the film might raise opposition to Marshall Plan grants to Germany in coming years.
