A two-day celebration to mark the 800th anniversary of the birth of Moses Maimonides will be observed by Washington Jews tomorrow and Sunday. Jewish organizations of this city will combine in the city-wide observance of the birth of the famous philosopher, jurist, physician, teacher and rabbi who was also known as Rambam.
Among the participating organizations will be B’nai B’rith, Adas Israel Congregation, the District of Columbia Benevolent Association, Hadassah, Jacoby Medical Society, the Zionist Organization, Council of Jewish Women, George Washington Lodge, Jewish War Veterans, Ladies Auxiliary No. 58 and the Jewish Community Center.
Tomorrow the celebration will include a “cultural Sabbath afternoon” at the Jewish Community Center, organized and directed by the Washington Hadassah Cultural Committee, of which Mrs. William Bralove is chairman. A playlet, “Rambam Retold,” will be presented, with music of Maimonides’ day.
A community celebration will be held Sunday evening. In connection with the celebration, the Library of Congress will feature a special display of the writings of Maimonides. This exhibit will be arranged by Dr. Israel Schapiro, chief of the library’s Semitic Division, and will be shown in the Jewish Community Center.

The principles of Maimonides as they may be applied to contemporary Jewish life, will form the subject of a series of addresses to be held on Monday afternoon between 4:30 and 5, over WJZ and associated radio stations, as part of the cultural seminar of the Joint Distribution Committee.
Prof. Norman Bentwich, associate on the League of Nations High Commission for Refugees, Joseph C. Hyman, honorary secretary of the United Jewish Appeal and Dr. Leo Jung, rabbi of the West Side Jewish Center, will be the speakers.
BRONX ‘Y’ HOLDS RAMBAM CELEBRATION
A Maimonides celebration will be observed tonight by the Bronx Y. M.-Y. W. H. A., Fulton avenue and 171st street, in the auditorium of the “Y” building.
The program will feature addresses by Dr. Leo Jung, rabbi of the West Side Jewish Center; M. Maldwin Fertig, president of the “Y”; Rabbi Solomon Reichman of the “Y,” who will also serve as chairman.
