The Palestine High Commissioner has recommended that the government include in its next budget a subsidy for Jewish health institutions, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns.
If carried through, this will be the first time that the Palestine government has made any allotment to Jewish health institutions.
Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope departed for Geneva on Saturday where he will present a report of the situation in Palestine to the session of the Mandates Commission.
Prior to his departure, the High Commissioner received Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, member of the World Zionist executive in charge of political affairs.
The High Commissioner also recommended an increase in the government’s subsidy for Jewish education.
Simultaneously the Jewish Agency Executive has despatched its report to the Mandates Commission with a covering letter signed by Nahum Sokolow as president of the Agency.
The Agency report reviews political developments concerning Palestine in the last year and lays emphasis on land development policy.
It deals also with the allocation of employment in public works to Jews in the spirit of Premier MacDonald’s letter to Dr. Chaim Weizmann. Reference is made further to tendencies in land legislation and administrative practice in land disputes; immigration; security and government subsidies for Jewish institutions.
