Meyer Weisgal, chairman of the executive committee of the Weismann Institute, was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy last night in recognition of his efforts for the Institute.
The award was presented at a ceremony at the Institute formally marking the opening of the academic year. The presentation was made by Dr. Dewey Stone, chairman of the Institute Board of Governors, and Prof. M. Feldman, chairman of the Institute Scientific Council. Twelve academic degrees were awarded to graduates.
The Charles Clore International Students Home was inaugurated at the Institute in the presence of Mr. Clore, Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir, Mr. Sieff, Mr. Stone and Mr. Weisgal.
