President Weizmann today resumed his consultations with party leaders on the composition of a new government.
He received the representatives of the Mapam, Herut, Poale Mizrachi, Communists, Progressives, Poale Agudah and the Arab Democratic League. His consultations will conclude tomorrow when he hears the views of the delegates of the Agudas Israel, Mizrachi and the remaining two Arab groups. During the week-end, he conferred with representatives of the Mapam and General Zionists, the first two parties in the new Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Knesset praesidium and secretariat have scheduled a two-part session of the Parliament for August 20. At the morning session the old Parliament will hold a farewell meeting, while the new one will begin its session in the afternoon with a formal inauguration and the election of a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers. After the Parliamentarians are sworn in, David Ben Gurion is expected to present his new Cabinet and ask for a vote of confidence.
