President Chaim Weizmann of the Jewish Agency for Palestine will reply on Friday evening over a National Broadcasting Company network to Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald’s special broadcast to the United States in defense of the new British policy on Palestine, it was announced today by the Zionist Organization of America. The broadcast, to be carried over the Blue network by shortwave from London, is scheduled for 6.15 p.m. EDST.
In announcing the arrangements, the Z.O.A. statement characterized Mr. McDonald’s address, given at the conclusion of his testimony before the Mandates Commission at Geneva, as “unprecedented in the 20 years’ history of the British Mandate over Palestine.” “That Mr. MacDonald found it essential to defend Britain’s latest policy before the people of the United States is an indication of the concern of British officials over the widespread American criticism against Britain’s repudiation of its solemn pledges to the Jewish people,” the statement declared.
