Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who was expected to leave for the United States this week, has decided to postpone his visit until the beginning of next month, it was learned today. His desire to remain here until “certain developments” occur, particularly the long-expected pronouncement of policy on Palestine by Prime Minister Attlee, is given as the chief reason for the delay, although Dr. Weizmann is encountering some difficulty in securing transportation.
(The New York newspaper PM today publishes a cable from its London correspondent reporting that Prime Minister Attlee yesterday received a delegation of five members of the executive of the British Labor Party, headed by Harold Laski, who proposed to the British Government “a TVA for Palestine.” The report says that Attlee told the delegation that it would be improper for him to disclose the Government’s plans before revealing them to the House of Commons. However, he indicated, according to the report, that the Government favors the abrogation of the White Paper and the admission of Jews to Palestine to the limits of the country’s absorptive capacity.)
