Wesley Clark endorsed U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) for president. The former NATO commander has had a mixed history with the U.S. Jewish community. In his own bid for the Democratic candidacy in 2004, he revealed that his father, who died when Clark was 4 years old, was Jewish, and noted his own closeness to the Jewish state cultivated as a U.S. military leader.

Earlier this year he stirred controversy when he said “New York money men” were pushing for war with Iran, a euphemism believed to refer to the Jewish community. Clinton welcomed his endorsement as a sign that she could effectively lead the military.
