Two separate investigations are being conducted in West Germany into the verdicts handed down during World War II by judges on the Nazi “special courts,” it was revealed here today.
In this city, the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Justice is investigating the “special court” activities of Justice Heinrich Becker, now presiding Judge of the Bonn District Court. He was a judge in the Nazi “special court” at Cologne during the war.
At Hamburg, the prosecutor reported today to the Hamburg State Parliament that he was reviewing 240 sentences handed down during the Nazi regime by “special courts” in that city. The prosecutor told Parliament that he had already found at least five cases of “obvious miscarriage of Justice.”
