West Germany said to day that it was going “half way” to meet the demands of Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi that the passports carried by all foreigners entering Libya be printed in Arabic. The Foreign Ministry said that a rubber stamp containing all essential information in Arabic will be imprinted on the passports of all West German nationals traveling to Libya.
The Ministry described the measure as a compromise and said it has been approved by the Libyan authorities. It said, it was taken in order to case the personal hardships endured by German businessmen traveling to Libya.
