Britain, France and the United States are to take concerted measures to obtain Security Council action to compel Egypt to end her blockade at the Suez Canal of Israel-bound shipping, the diplomatic correspondent of the London Evening News reported today.
The correspondent said that Britain would ask the United States for urgent talks on Middle East policy as a whole since it believed that one of the reasons for Egyptian Premier Naguib’s intransigeant attitude in negotiations with Britain over the Suez Canal is the belief that the United States is not firmly enough behind Britain in the Canal Zone.
