Winners in the fourth Biggest Jewish News of the Week contest of the Jewish Daily Bulletin are announced today. This competition, which closed midnight Monday, December 10, included the news period from Sunday, December 2, to Friday, December 9.
The winners of the fourth Biggest Jewish News of the Week contest will share the $100 in cash prizes which are awarded weekly to writers of the best 250-word letters on the most important news of the week.
There is a new contest each week. The fifth contest concludes today. The winners will be announced next Friday. The sixth weekly contest begins with Sunday’s issue. Rules governing the contest will appear in full in that issue.
THE WINNERS! GENERAL DIVISION
In the non-student general reader division New Yorkers made a clean sweep of the first three prizes in the fourth contest.
First prize, $25 goes to I. R. Malkin, 2705 Colden avenue, Bronx, for the best letter of 250 words on the Biggest Jewish news of the week from Sunday, December 2, to Friday, December 9.
Second prize ($10) is awarded to Irving Oblas, 1560 Amsterdam avenue, New York City. Third prize, ($5) goes to Paul Martinson, 295 East Tenth street, New York City.
Harold Greenberg and Rabbi S. H. Baron were close contenders for third prize. After special deliberation by the judges the third award went to Mr. Martinson.
The judges gave honorable mention to ten others.
