A $50,000 co-operative subscription to shares in the Palestine Economic Corporation of Canada, Ltd. , was made here on behalf of members of three Zionist clubs of the city. The subscription for 500 shares was hailed by Marvin E. Gelber, head of the company, as “the start of a broad, popular movement for private investment in Israel.”
Leaders of the subscribing group described the move as providing for the first time “representation for the little man in the direction of the company’s affairs.” A total of $125,000 for shares of the Canadian-Israeli investment enterprise was subscribed by residents of Winnipeg during Mr. Gelber’s visit here.
