Impetus to the forthcoming United Jewish Welfare Fund Drive of Oakland was given tonight at a mass meeting attended by members of the Jewish communities of the Bay District.
The principal speaker was Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, of New York, who delivered an address appealing for support of the coming campaign. He was introduced by Dr. Monroe E. Deutsch, vice-president of the University of California.
Leonard J. Meltzer, campaign chairman, presided.
The drive, with a goal of $30,055, opens Friday and ends August 27.
