Police detectives suspect that the brutal murder of a Jewish prostitute found dead Wednesday in Holon, near Tel Aviv, was carried out by Arab nationalists with political motivations.
The victim, 37-year-old Sarah Sharon, was repeatedly and viciously stabbed to death. Her body was discovered Wednesday morning in Holon’s industrial area.
A note in Arabic, left pinned to her, promised further killings “unless the Hamas deportees are returned.”
The note apparently referred to the more than 400 Palestinians connected to the Islamic fundamentalist Hamas movement who were deported by Israel last month to Lebanon.
The note, together with the fact that the victim’s money was not taken, led police to suspect a nationalist motive. The country’s domestic intelligence agency, the Shin Bet, has been called in to investigate the case.
