The Honorable Lily Montagu has been elected president of the World Union of Progressive Judaism by the Union’s governing body, it was announced here today. She succeeds Rabbi Leo Baeck, who was named honorary president.
The board also decided to call the Union’s next international conference in Paris in July, 1955. Also discussed at the meeting were plans for the Union’s future activities in Israel and the need for spiritual leadership of synagogues in various parts of the world.
