Woman Leader of Religious Party Named Deputy Speaker of Knesset

A woman leader of the National Religious party, Mrs. Tova Sanhedrai, was named Deputy Speaker of Israel’s Parliament yesterday.

A co-founder of the Hapoel Hamizrachi’s Women’s Organization and its chairman since it was founded in 1934, Mrs. Sanhedrai was a Knesset Deputy of the Religious party in 1961. Married to Rabbi Yisrael Sanhedrai, she succeeded the late Yaacov Greenberg, also of the Religious Party, as Deputy Speaker. She is one of two women on the five-member Knesset presidium. The other is Miss Bebe Idelsohn of Mapai.
