In order not to interfere with the raising of the maximum funds needed by the United Jewish Appeal’s $100, 000, 000 Emergency Rescue Fund, the board of directors of the local Jewish Community Center voted this week-end to postpone plans for a fund-raising drive for the construction of a new center.
The board has informed the Worcester Federation that it believes “the situation is so perilous that all considerations for building programs should be delayed until the current emergency has passed.” In its resolution, the board urged “that all other Jewish institutions contemplating new buildings consider similar action at this time.”
