Workers in 40 industrial plants in the Tel Aviv area threatened today to go out on strike this week in support of 500 textile striker s at the Argaman plant.
The Argaman workers, whose strike has been denounced by the Government and the Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation, walked out in support of demands for substantial compensation to workers dismissed because of plans to transfer the plant to the Galilee.
All of the Argaman workers who walked out received notices today from the company operating the plant, near Tel Aviv, that they have been dismissed from their jobs and have forfeited their rights to severance pay, because of the strike.
