The Workmen’s Circle, 70-000-member fraternal organization, announced today a contest for the best Yiddish play. First prize in the contest, which is open to any writer of Yiddish in this or any other country, is $500. The contest closes May 1, 1958. The order also announced a contest for musical compositions written for a choir of mixed voices, with the text taken from Yiddish poetry. A first prize of $250 and a second of $150 will be awarded.
