The final adoption of the anti-immigration bill in the United States has created a very difficult situation for the large numbers of Jewish refugees who are stranded in many cities in Eastern and Central Europe, and has made the problem of Jewish emigration acute.
The Jewish Emigration Directorate has, therefore, called a general meeting of its members and sub-committees for the purpose of considering the situation. The meeting will take place on August 13th in this city.
It has also been decided to convene a general conference of all Jewish societies which are engaged in extending help to immigrants. The American Hias, the Canadian Immigrant Aid Society and the Jewish Central Relief Committee of Argentina have already signified their intention of sending delegates to that conference.
