Mrs. Rose Halprin and Dr. Israel Goldstein, co-chairmen of the World Confederation of General Zionists, protested today to Israeli leaders the decision to eliminate a favorable rate of exchange for immigrants who bring capital with them to Israel.
In a cable to Israeli Finance Minister Levi Eshkol and Jewish Agency treasurer, Dr. Dov Joseph they asked that the rate–2.5 Israeli pounds to the dollar–be reinstituted. They rejected an alternative proposed by Mr. Eshkol that the difference between the favorable exchange and the normal 1. 8 pounds to the dollar allowed others be made up by a special loan from the Jewish Agency.
