The World OSE Union, Jewish health organization, has been given official status with the World Health Organization, it was announced today. The agency was admitted, after its application had previously been denied, under a broadening of WHO admissions criteria to admit “sectional” groups and to allow admission of more than one non-governmental agency working in the same field.
Admitted with the OSE were two Catholic health agencies, Admission of these three groups was opposed by the Brazilian representative, Prof .M.J. Feffeira, who held it was the wrong step to accept organizations based on confessional grounds or restricted in membership by race or other criteria.
