The Isreal branch of the World Jewish Congress today recomended to the parent body that it obtain the prior consent of the United Nations before acting on a request from the Jews of Spain that they be permitted to join the World Jewish Congress.
The recommendation is based on the fact that Spain is under a U.N. boycott and the local branch of the W.J.C. fears that acceptance of the Spanish body without the U.N.’s consent might cause the international organization to withdraw the consultative status it has granted the Congress.
