The world Jewish congress today urged league of nations intervention on behalf of Austrian Jews, in a petition citing anti-Jewish actions by the Nazi regime in contravention of the St. German treaty.
The petition, asking the league council to apply urgency procedure to the question, pointed to the imminent application of the Nuremberg race and citizenship laws of 1935. It quoted the minorities clauses in the German treaty between Austria and the allies, and the league resolution of march, 1932, on the sanctity of treaties of member states. It is not expected that the Austrian situation will be discussed before the may session of the council.
