Greetings from noted Jewish personalities throughout the world were presented today to President Zalman Shazar of Israel on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The presentation was made by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Keren Hayesod, the Israel Foundation Fund. The greetings were in a special leather-bound album bearing the 50th anniversary symbol of Keren Hayesod on its cover.
Among the personalities whose greetings were included in the album were Artur Rubenstein, the pianist; Prof. Rene Cassin, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and Prof. Jacob Kaplan, Grand Rabbi of France. Mare Chagall, the artist, sent his message in Yiddish, illustrated by a small color sketch.
