The Union of Jewish Societies, which represents French Communist Party Jewish dissidents and other Jewish left-wing groups and individuals, has adopted a resolution calling upon the Polish government to permit Leopold Trepper to emigrate to Israel. An official communique from the Union to the Polish government stated that it was making this request “out of humanitarian considerations.” The communique added that it was asking all Jewish organizations to participate in the campaign to free the former chief of Soviet wartime intelligence in Europe.
