During the year 1929 the World Ort has collected the sum of $759,658, according to the financial report which the central office of the “Ort” in Berlin has just issued. Besides this sum the Ort sent to Russia during the same year machines worth $387,814 at the expense of foreign relatives of Russian Jews. Machines and raw materials worth $465,718 have been sent out to the credit of the cooperatives. More than 150 Jewish agricultural colonies in Russia, Bessarabia and Poland were served by the Ort during 1929. A total of 97 Jewish institutions in various East European countries were supported by the Ort during the same year.
