The Second Congress of the International Union of Jewish Youth was concluded here this morning. The program adopted declares the aims of the Union to be the education of the Jewish youth on the basis of the unity of Jewry and the renaissance of the Jewish people, of which the restoration of Palestine is the factor and consummation.
M. Aime Palliere was re-elected President, and the new Central Committee includes, besides the French members, representatives from Palestine, Italy, Switzerland, Egypt and Tunis.
The question of Palestine work was taken up. After hearing a report on the subject by Mile. Fanny Weil of Strasbourg, a resolution was adopted unanimously which says:
This Congress of the World Union reaffirms that co-operation on the part of all its sections with the Jewish National Fund is an integral part of the activity of the Union, in conformity with the statutes, and it therefore asks all its sections and all associations affiliated with it. to take the necessary steps to carry out this decision.
With a view to drawing up a practical program of action by the World Union of Jewish Youth on behalf of the Jewish National Fund, the Congress instructs the Central Committee to establish permanent contact with the regional organization of the Jewish National Fund on a basis of mutual delegation of representatives to the Central Committee of the World Union and the Committee of the Jewish National Fund.
To assure the collaboration of the young people in the work of the Jewish National Fund, the Congress asks the sections and affiliated associations to create in their midst groups of Gedudim, working groups, having as their object the theoretical and practical preparation of these young members for work with regard to Palestine.
In order to make more concrete and intensive the efforts of the members of the World Union of Jewish Youth for the reconstruction of a Jewish Palestine, the Congress is of the opinion that a Kfar Hanoa colony ought to be established in Palestine with the funds collected by its members.
It calls upon the Central Committee to enter into contact with the organizations interested in Palestine, to decide the methods for carrying; this program into effect.
