That Catholicism must increase its missionary activity in order to save the souls of the Jewish people which had lost its religion since it was granted equal rights more than a century ago, was the statement made today by Father Bichlmair during an address on missionary activity among the Jews in the Zion Cathedral here.
Father Bichlmair concluded that the decline of religious and national spirit among the Jews made the Jews ripe for Christianity and that every Christion therefore is in duty bound to work for the conversion of the Jews by winning the confidence of the Jews through creating a friendly atmosphere for them, without any religious or political anti-Semitism. For this purpose he suggested that a missionary society of the laity as well as of the priesthood also be created in Austria.
