The World Zionist Executive, meeting today under the chairmanship of Louis Pincus, expressed its appreciation to Sen. Henry M. Jackson for his efforts to persuade the Soviet Union to rescind its education tax-on Jewish emigres.
The Zionist Executive held a special meeting devoted to reports reaching here of the worsening situation of Soviet Jews and the hardships and restrictions imposed on those seeking visas to emigrate to Israel. The Executive reaffirmed that in view of the increasing danger to the future of Soviet Jewry the only way to save them is through free emigration to Israel. It called on Jews all over the world to exert their influence on behalf of Soviet Jewry.
