In a distinctly pro-Jewish speech, Waldo H. Heinrichs, executive secretary of the new $1,000,000 Y.M.C.A. which will be dedicated in Jerusalem this Easter, gave assurances that the “Y” would attempt no proselytizing of Jews and Moslems in Palestine and expressed the hope that his mission would promote mutual understanding among the three faiths in the Holy Land.
Heinrichs was the guest of honor at a testimonial dinner given at the Central Y.M.C.A. of Brooklyn by the Brooklyn and Queens Y.M.C.A. Association. The only other speaker of the evening was Rabbi B. Leon Hurwitz of the Ninth Street Temple, Brooklyn, who spoke in behalf of the Inter-denominational Clergy Association of Brooklyn, which he heads.
