Yad Vashem may honor relatives of Ukrainian President Victor Yuschenko for their wartime efforts to help Jews.
Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev flew to Kiev this week to meet Yuschenko, who presented a file on his relatives who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. Yad Vashem said Shalev assured Yuschenko that he would present the documents to a committee that designates the Righteous Among the Nations.
Yuschenko met Shalev at Yad Vashem during his visit to Israel last month.
